Chocolate Vanilla Layer Dessert

Ingredients
For the Vanilla Layer:
2 cups milk
3 tablespoons cornstarch
4 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon butter (optional, for extra creaminess)
For the Chocolate Layer:
2 cups milk
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
3 tablespoons cornstarch
4 tablespoons sugar
50 g dark chocolate (optional, for richer taste)
For the Topping:
150 g melted chocolate
2 tablespoons fresh cream (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Vanilla Layer
In a saucepan, add the milk, sugar, and cornstarch.
Whisk well until the cornstarch is completely dissolved and no lumps remain.
Place the saucepan over medium heat.
Stir continuously using a whisk or wooden spoon.
After a few minutes, the mixture will start to thicken.
Once it becomes creamy and smooth, remove it from the heat.
Add vanilla extract and butter, then mix well.
Pour the vanilla mixture into a glass or plastic serving dish.
Spread it evenly using a spatula.
Let it cool slightly at room temperature.
Step 2: Prepare the Chocolate Layer
In another saucepan, add milk, sugar, cocoa powder, and cornstarch.
Mix well until fully combined.
Place on medium heat and stir constantly.
Continue stirring until the mixture thickens.
If using dark chocolate, add it now and mix until melted.
Remove from heat when the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.
Step 3: Assemble the Dessert
Carefully pour the chocolate mixture over the vanilla layer.
Spread gently to cover the entire surface.
Let the dessert cool at room temperature.
Then place it in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours until fully set.
Step 4: Prepare the Topping (Optional)
Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave.
Add fresh cream and mix well.
Pour over the dessert and spread evenly.
Refrigerate again for 30 minutes.
