Chocolate Caramel Nut Bars Recipe


✅ Ingredients
For the Base Layer:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Caramel Layer:
1 cup soft caramel candies (unwrapped)
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons butter
For the Topping:
1 cup milk chocolate chunks or chocolate chips
3/4 cup chopped walnuts (or mixed nuts)
1/4 cup crushed biscuits (optional, for extra crunch)

Step 1: Prepare the Base
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a square baking dish (about 20×20 cm) and line it with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter and vanilla extract. Mix using your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture becomes crumbly and resembles wet sand.
Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form an even base layer. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool slightly.
Step 2: Make the Caramel Layer
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the caramel candies, heavy cream, and butter. Stir continuously until everything melts and forms a smooth, creamy caramel sauce.
Once melted, carefully pour the caramel over the baked base. Use a spatula to spread it evenly. Let it rest for 5 minutes so the caramel can slightly set.
Step 3: Add the Topping
While the caramel is still warm, sprinkle the chocolate chunks evenly over the surface. Allow them to soften from the heat of the caramel.
After 2–3 minutes, gently spread the melted chocolate using a spatula to form a smooth layer.
Sprinkle the chopped walnuts and crushed biscuits over the chocolate layer. Press lightly so they stick well.
Step 4: Chill and Set
Place the baking dish in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until completely firm.
Once set, remove from the dish and cut into square bars using a sharp knife.
